A Summary of What We Believe

Bible: We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God, that the 66 books, as originally written, comprising the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and were entirely free from error. - 2 Timothy 3:16

God: We believe in one God who is personal and self existent, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect in all His attributes and eternally existing in three equal persons: The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. -2 Corinthians 13:14

Christ: We believe in the absolute and essential deity of Jesus Christ who, in becoming a man, did not cease to be God. He eternally existed with the Father and agreed to become a man, die on the cross, and rise bodily from the grave to satisfy the demands of His Holy Father. -John 1:14 / Philippians 2:5-8

The Holy Spirit: We believe in the Holy Spirit who is God in every respect. He convicts the world of sin, indwells born again Christians, as well as seals, comforts, teaches, empowers, fills and guides all believers in all truth. -John 16:13-14 / John 14:16-17

Satan: We believe in the existence of Satan as the originator of sin and the archenemy of God. A a spirit being, he leads his demonic forces in continual attack upon the people of God and purposes of God. -1 Peter 5:8

Salvation: We believe all people are born sinful, are eternally separated from God and cannot earn their way to heaven. But salvation is provided by God, through Christ, as a free gift to all who repent of their sin and put their faith in the person and work of Christ on the cross, His death was a payment for our sin and the basis of our forgiveness and eternal life. Romans 6:23

The Church : We believe the true Church is composed of all who through faith in Christ have become children of God. The true Church is manifested in specific locations called local churches in which Christ is the head. The local church exists to glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great COmmission. -Ephesians 5:23-25 / 1 Corinthians 12:12

Meet the pastors of

Rothbury Community Church

Pastor James Enns and Family
Senior Pastor

It has been my privilege to be part of the RCC family since 1988. I was Youth Pastor for the first 12 years and since have been Sr. Pastor. What a wonderful responsibility it is to study and bring the Word of God to God’s people each week.

I grew up in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Accepted Christ in my early years, and was impacted deeply by many godly people including my parents, and youth pastor that God used to confirm His calling to serve in full time ministry. I then received my Bachelors and Masters from Briercrest Bible College and Seminary.

One of the blessings of moving to Michigan was finding my beautiful wife Cathy. We have been married since 1992 and have been blessed with 5 children. Austin, Abram, Alexander, Audrianna, Alyson (can you see a pattern?).

When time allows it, I enjoy playing hockey (like every Canadian), basketball, and water skiing.

I pray that RCC will be a blessing to you as it has our family."

Associate Pastor Daniel Pflug and Family
Pastor of Evangelism and Discipleship

“I was raised in a wonderful, Christian home in Cincinnati, Ohio. My parents have served in ministry for over 35 years. I came to faith at a young age. My calling to full-time ministry came while I was in college at Bowling Green State University and in seminary at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

By the grace of our Lord, my goal in life and in ministry is to serve in the best way so as to effectively bring glory to God in Christ Jesus through a fervent commitment to the Great Commission, Christian community and soul care. This focus has been most clearly realized in my experience through one-on-one discipleship relationships; therefore, evangelizing, discipling and shepherding others has been the highest emphasis in my ministry.

At Rothbury Community Church, I have been charged with overseeing the majority of adult ministries and engaging the surrounding communities through leading evangelism and service efforts.”

Associate Pastor Bryan Wolff & Family
Pastor of Student Ministries

"My parents raised me in a Christian home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  I trusted Christ for salvation in my early teenage years, and was on the path towards full-time ministry by college.  I attended Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated with a degree in Bible and Pastoral Studies

My wife Meggan and I are high school sweethearts and have been married since 2005.  Just months after our wedding Meggan and I packed up our home and moved to Los Angeles, California where I attended and graduated from The Master’s Seminary.  During our time in seminary the Lord blessed us with our two children Lillian and Noah.

For recreation I like to read, play guitar, watch the Minnesota Twins, and play with technology.

I lead the youth program and children ministries at RCC and I eagerly look forward to what the Lord has in store for us as a church family as we continue to serve Him!"

History
The History of Rothbury Community Church

Early in the 1940’s a group of people began holding Sunday School in the Township Hall. Later, they were given the opportunity to use the church building just east of U.S. 31 on Winston Road. After some time, it was decided to buy the building. Mrs. Mildred Longnecker and Mrs. Esther Clements were instrumental in collecting enough donations to purchase the building on February 21, 1946.

Church services were added to the Sunday School and as the congregation grew many people of the church provided the labor that was needed to raise the facility through its various stages to where it stands today.

In the spring of 1981, the decision to build a new building was made. Work began at the present site in July 1981 with the first services being held on March 7, 1982. Various expansion programs have continued through the years including the 1993 expansion of the sanctuary, the addition of the Youth Room and offices and the addition of two classrooms off the sanctuary.

Currently, a new addition is near completion. This addition includes classrooms, a new youth center and offices.

In that first church, there were neither pews, nor electric lights. During the cold Michigan winters, the building was heated by means of a pot-bellied stove, but the warmth of Christian love and fellowship was burning in the hearts of that early assembly of believers and a commitment to truth that continues to this day.

For all this, and much more, we praise the Lord!
